Mmmmmm Lemmmoooonnnnn. I’m obsessed with everything lemon. It’s definitely one of my top 2 favorite flavors. Lemon is refreshing and tangy and somehow always makes me feel like the dessert I’m eating is just a little healthier (I know it’s not!). This Amazing Lemon Cream Cheese Icing is a quick and delicious way to give your cakes that lemon zing that everyone craves.

Like my basic Amazing Cream Cheese Icing, it adds decadence to the simplest of cakes. It’s perfect on almost anything and it’s more versatile than you think! Having a great recipe for lemon icing is a staple for any baker.

With any cream cheese frosting, there are basically 5 key ingredients: butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar and a flavoring of choice. Keep in mind this is not intended to be an airy icing. It pipes and spreads easily and holds up really well.
This icing will need to be refrigerated because of the cheese. But in my opinion, refrigeration makes it taste even better! You just can’t go wrong with cream cheese icing!

This icing is a must for my Gluten-Free Blueberry Lemon Poundcake Cupcakes! It is perfect on any cakes, muffins or cookies (or just to eat spoonfuls of on it’s own)! I have used this recipe for Mother’s Day, Birthday Parties, Tea Parties, BBQs and just for fun. This Amazing Lemon Cream Cheese Icing is so simple to make:
- With a hand mixer/stand mixer whip room temperature softened butter, cream cheese and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Slowly add in 1 cup of powdered sugar at a time and mix until completely combined. That’s it!

I love to create variations like Pink Strawberry, Peppermint Candy Cane, Cinnamon. There’s endless flavor varieties for whatever you are baking!

I hope you enjoy this icing as much as my family and I do! Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think!

This frosting is ridiculously good! It came out light and not too sweet. I love lemon so I added another teaspoon of lemon juice. I can’t wait to try it with the lemon blueberry cupcakes, such a perfect pair!
